Tips & Suggestions

| Selling
Merchandise: |
 |
Don't
Make Customers Wait For Delivery:
Customers expect prompt delivery on web orders. .
|
 |
Don't
Limit Yourself To One Merchant Account:
You'll need a merchant account to accept credit cards (or use WePay
or PayPal). Be sure you can accept credit cards via at least two different
sources -- just in case something happens with one of them.
|
 |
Don't
Be Rude:
You'll undoubedly receive customer complaints, and many of them may
be outrageous. Try to avoid being rude to customers. You may find
yourself listed at complaint websites, or the angry customer may say
bad things about you at forums, blogs, and social media sites.
|
 |
Beware Of Scammers:
You'll get e-mails from people offering to sell you all sorts of stuff,
such as optimizing your website orincluding you in a directory. Many
of these people are scammers in China or India or Russia who want
to separate you from your cash (or credit card).

 |
K.I.S.S.:
I'm a firm believer in K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid). I absolutely
hate visiting a website which takes forever to load because
the publisher has loaded up the site with so much stuff (flash,
graphics, music, pictures).
The average website
visitor may leave within 20 seconds or less if they can't quickly
find what they're looking for. Always keep that in mind when
designing your website.

 |
Don't
Spend Too Much:
It can be tempting to place more and more ads to get more traffic.
However, if that traffic is not producing sales, you're wasting money.
Buying traffic doesn't always buy enough sales to cover the advertising
cost. |
